How to Share Files in Google Drive
Here are the steps you can use to share files with anyone. You can share with email or you could post the links on a website, Edmodo or a blog. Note that this is just for sharing without editing. If you want the users to be able to edit there are additional steps.
Step 1: If you want to share just one file it’s probably easiest to just open it in Drive and click the Share button in the upper right. That is shown in this example:

Note that sometimes Drive will open a “preview” of the file when you click it in Drive. In those cases the sharing button shows up in the lower right of the screen. It looks like this:
Or if you have multiple files to share, check the boxes next to the files in Drive and click the Share button as shown here:
Step 2: The Sharing settings window will open. Click on Change… next to the Private option.
Step 3: Select the button that indicates how you want to share it.
- If you pick Public on the web anyone could find it by searching.
- If you select Anyone with the link then the only way people could find it would be if you share the link with them. (You’ll see how to share the link in the next step.)
Step 4: Now you need to copy the link that you find on the Sharing settings page. (And if you are sharing multiple files you’ll notice it will show multiple links.)
Right click on the selected link(s) and choose Copy.

Step 5: Now you just have to paste the link where you need it. If you are sharing a file with someone by email, paste it in the message. If you are posting the file in Edmodo, on a website or in a blog, you will have to use whatever method that service uses for making links.
